About Our Church

Our History

A plot of ground 136 feet by 40 feet was purchased from Henry and Elizabeth Zearing for $40 on September 24, 1838. The title of the property was made to Jacob Rupp and John M. Smith, a committee in trust and their successors “for the worshipping of the Almighty in said House.”

The house of worship erected during that summer and dedicated November 23, 1838, is the house still in use today. This frame structure was 40 feet by 32 feet, and cost $700. Entrance was gained by two doors on the south end and the pulpit was between these two doors. This house served the purpose of the congregation for thirty-eight years, when in 1876, the building was remodeled and twelve feet added to the length, a bell tower erected, new windows, new roof and doors at a cost of $1,400. Other alterations were made from time to time. A major remodeling was dedicated in 1906 and 1952. In the 1930’s a separate room was constructed for the use of the primary department, and the basement was excavated and prepared for a kitchen, Sunday School rooms, and restrooms. No cost is available for this project.

Today [October 1, 2000], we dedicate the latest expansion of this building. An addition of approximately 46 feet by 33 feet nearly doubles the size of the building. This addition allows for increased sanctuary space, pastor and secretary’s offices, a new narthex, nursery, increased social hall area, handicap lift, storage, new pews, prayer room and library at a cost of about $350,000.

Many changes have been made to this building through the years and many lives have been changed here as well. May God continue to lead and bless us in the years ahead. May this building always be used for His glory.

Bulletin—Dedication Service—October 1, 2000.

Our Mission

Helping people become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

Our Purpose

To fulfill the Great Commission of “making more and better disciples,” and to build a family of believers who bring pleasure to God as we: Love Him completely, Love each other unselfishly, And reach out with Christ’s love to the world.

Affirmation of Faith of the Churches of God, General Conference

WE believe in one supreme God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; co-equal and co-eternal.

AND in the miraculous conception, the virgin birth, the vicarious sacrifice, the bodily resurrection, the triumphant ascension, and the Second Coming of our Lord.

WE believe in the gift and work of the Holy Spirit; the divinely inspired Word of God as our only and all-sufficient rule of faith and practice; and in the free moral agency of man.

WE believe God created man; man has fallen, and his only possible redemption is through the atonement of Christ. We believe in the forgiveness of sins, rebirth by the Word and Spirit, and in justification by faith.

WE believe baptism, feet-washing, and the Lord’s Supper to be the ordinances of the church.

WE believe in Christian unity, the holiness of the Lord’s Day, and God’s appointment of civil governments.

WE believe in the resurrection of the dead, the final judgment, and life everlasting.
